Have you ever wondered why people aren’t sticking around your site longer than a few minutes, or even a few seconds?

When a visitor clicks away from your site, scrolls past you on social media, or brushes you off in any other way, it’s typically because they either don’t 1) know you, 2) like you, or 3) trust you.

And let me tell you something, those things don’t have anything to do with you. They have to do with how you are presenting yourself and your business online.

That means if you aren’t putting yourself out there and telling your backstory, how you got to where you are, and sharing the obstacles you’ve overcome, your audience will never know who you really are. You will blend in with the crowd.

BUT if you are sharing those things, and showing up in photos or on video so they can see your face, your audience will feel like they know you.

Are you thinking, “they don’t like me? How could you say that?”

The same thing applies as above. You’ve got to talk about yourself (even when it feels weird), show up and share relatable stories. We’re all human and we’re all looking for connections. They don’t like you YET, because they don’t know you yet.

Building connections is as easy as saying you had this and this and this happen to you, and your audience might relate and might not.

If they do, they will start to like you more and more as they hear more from you.

If they don’t, well then that person isn’t your ideal client, and therefore, their opinion doesn’t matter.

And then there’s trust. Trust is a tricky subject. Sometimes it can be built just by sharing stories and having genuine conversations. Other times, that’s not as easy as it sounds (like through a website).

Building trust on a website is honestly pretty simple, you just have to know how to go about it.

I’ve got three powerful tips you can implement today in order to build trust with your visitors, starting from the moment they land on your site.

These strategies are so simple, and highly effective. You can have them implemented within the hour, and start seeing results right away.

Ready for this? Get your notebook ready…

1. Add a photo of your smiling face to your homepage.

Why? It allows your visitors to picture who’s speaking to them as they’re reading your written copy or listening to your audio clips. It puts a face to the name, the voice and the brand.

Nobody wants to do business with the unknown.

As human beings, we fear the unknown. So why would we want to give our money, time or energy to a person or brand we can’t put a face to?

We don’t. Add a photo of yourself!

Also, the smile makes it super friendly and makes you look relatable and approachable.

2. Add two or more client testimonials or reviews to your homepage.

Showcasing these testimonials or reviews will immediately tell your visitors that you are a trusted authority in your niche. It builds credibility and shows that you’ve already guided others to success.

It will show your audience they can trust you with their time and money, and that you can get them the results they’re seeking.

3. Talk about your experience, qualifications and certifications.

Do this in a place that’s easy to find. This would preferably be on your homepage as well, but could also be on your sales pages or under your offers.

It will prove you know what you’re talking about, you’re an expert in your field and you’re very good at what you do.

By showing that you have previous experience or that you’re a certified expert, trust and authority will be built.

That’s it!

To recap:

  1. Add a photo of your smiling face to your homepage.
  2. Add 2+ client testimonials or reviews to your homepage.
  3. Mention your experience and qualifications.

It all sounds really simple, but it’s easy to overlook these or hesitate when it comes to all three, in fear of sounding like you’re bragging about your work or displaying photos of yourself when you think the focus should be on something else.

Don’t let these assumptions get in your way, because they’re incorrect. You’ve got to show up for your community – they need what you have to offer!

And the only way they will pay attention and give it more than a quick glance, is if you prove to them you’re a real human they can get to know, like and trust.

It’s all about that know, like and trust factor.

Ready to implement? Take the next hour (or less) and dedicate yourself to these strategies. Your bottom line will thank you.
