Did you know with social media, only about 3% of your audience sees your posts? All that effort and it’s not even reaching the majority of the people you’ve worked so hard to get.
Having an email list means you’re sending out messages that land in 100% of the inboxes on your list – forcing each person to make a conscious decision whether or not to open your email. With a 97% difference, email lists are far superior for conversion than social media ever could be.
Listen in to the Self Paid Club podcast episode 019: The Most Underrated Marketing Tool for Entrepreneurs to discover how to gain new subscribers and convert them into paying customers (because that’s what it’s all about).

What’s the point of an email list?
The whole point is to bring your audience off of social media and into a place where you have more control. More control over the content, and more control over who sees the content.
The point is getting more eyes on the work that you pour your energy into. The content you spend precious time and effort creating – we want that content seen by as many people as possible.
With an email list, your goal is to grow it by as many subscribers as you can (quality subscribers are important here, so that you’re filling your list with ideal clients). There are many strategies you can use to grow your list, but once you do, the focus shifts to building AND serving at the same time.
Then, once you’re ready to launch a new offer or invite them to purchase from you, you have a warm audience of readers ready to hand over their wallets.
What are the benefits of having an email list?
You can reach 100% of your subscribers every time you send out a new email.
It’s a more intimate space where each subscriber has signed up because they’re genuinely interested in hearing what you have to say.
You own your audience. When social media blackouts happen, you don’t have to worry about your entire business disappearing because you have a way to reach your most interested audience members via email!
You can target your audience by segmenting your list and sending out specific emails only to people who have indicated they are interested in that specific topic. This means you’ll see much better results.
Email is a great way to foster communication between you and your audience. You can ask your subscribers to “hit reply” and answer a specific question you’re asking, to provide feedback you can use to improve your business or create new offers, and communicate with them in a more personal manner.
What’s the best platform to use to host my email list?
There are so many different providers out there, and I’ve tried many of them myself, migrating my list from host to host multiple times over the years. But I’ve finally settled on the BEST platform out there, Flodesk.
Flodesk is an intuitive email list builder and automation platform offering beautiful, customizable templates, workflows and opt-in pages. There are no tiers or subscriber limits, so you’re not paying per subscriber. It’s a flat monthly or annual fee… perfect for a list of any size, big or small.
I’ve personally been using Flodesk since 2020, and would love to share a discount with you to get started! To get 50% off Flodesk for your first year, click here.
What’s the best strategy to grow my email list?
Give people a reason to sign up and hand over their email address. Essentially, it’s an exchange of value between you and each new subscriber.
The simplest way this can be done is through the use of lead magnets. This might be a free offer, such as a PDF guide explaining a certain process or showcasing a step-by-step how-to, a masterclass or workshop-style training, a free challenge, or anything else that might be of value to a potential subscriber, inviting them into your world to experience what it would be like to work with you.
How should I use my email list once there’s people on it?
By sending out regular emails a minimum of once per week. Rotate between different email topics related to your niche and your offers, switching between giving value, storytelling and inviting your audience into your offers.
You don’t want to directly sell in every single email, because you need to be giving people a reason to stay on your list in between those sales emails. This is where the storytelling and giving value come in.
There are SO many different ways to build your email list, market it to gain more subscribers, and use it to generate high amounts of sales.
