As an entrepreneur, it takes tremendous effort to push past personal struggles and keep your head in your business. We tend to think that we’re supposed to toss that stuff aside and hide the tough situations we’re going through in order to appear put-together and “professional”.
I’m challenging that narrative. I’m no stranger to loss, and I think it’s important to talk about. Today, we’re discussing how to handle loss as an entrepreneur, with strategies to continue working on your business and showing up for yourself even when it’s the last thing on your mind.
Get ready to discuss:
My personal relationship with loss and losing loved ones
How to show up for your clients during difficult times
Getting back on the horse or writing a new story
Prioritizing progress over results
Listen in to the Self Paid Club podcast episode 021: Overcoming Loss and Rewriting Your Story to discover the exact strategies I’ve used to push through the most difficult personal struggles of my life and rewrite my story moving forward, using loss as a stepping stone to a new beginning.
You’re going to want to listen in to get the full story, and then review the actions you can take in your own life below.
1. Your business is an extension of YOU, so operate it as such.
If you’re running a personal brand, it’s natural for the tough times to bleed over into your business as well. Let your audience in and fill them in on what’s happening in your life – in as little or as much detail as you feel is right for the situation.
2. Tell your clients that you’re currently navigating something difficult and let them know what they can expect from you over the upcoming days and weeks.
Your community will be better able to give you grace when it comes to deadlines, launches, coaching sessions and other things that need to be rescheduled – we’re all human, and they will understand if you need to take some time.
3. Before you jump back into your business, think about how you’d like to move forward.
Sometimes, the things we go through change us to our core, which means our business needs to evolve with us as well. If you’re feeling a change, now’s the time to implement it.
4. Make success depend on the progress and NOT the results.
When you’re ready to step on the gas again, focus on the small wins no matter how small they are. Congratulate yourself for putting one foot in front of the other. Slowly, your progress (and your results) will build back up.
➡️ Remember, loss doesn't have to be the end. It can be the beginning of a new story.
Anytime is a good time for a new beginning. And if loss has impacted you like it has me, then now might be the perfect time to start fresh.
Is there anything you can add that might help someone else navigate the tough times with even just a little more ease? Feel free to share below. 🫶
