The Only 3 Things You Need When Starting from Scratch

We tend to overcomplicate things when first starting a business. We think we have to show up in ALL the places, have ALL the tools, have a big offer suite and be the most perfect, polished version of ourselves right from the very start.
No wonder overwhelm and paralysis are common among new entrepreneurs.
Let’s bring it back to the basics (because you really only need three things to be successful).

Number One: Simplified Social Media
You only need ONE social media platform.
No, you don’t need to show up in all the places. If the thought of Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, X, Snapchat or any other platform is swirling around in your head… clear your mind.
Pick one single social media platform to start with. Show up in this space to the absolute best of your abilities and pour all your marketing efforts into this one platform until you MASTER IT!
Ok, but how do you decide which one to pick? Well, you’re just going to have to listen to the episode to find out. 😉
The reason it’s so important to focus on one primary platform is that your audience can sense your energy. If you try to show up in multiple places, you’re splitting your attention and spreading yourself too thin. Your efforts will be watered down, which means your impact will also be watered down. That will translate to poor sales.
Mastering one platform will yield far greater results!
Number Two: Off-Platform Marketing
You need ONE place to send your audience off-platform (away from that social media site you chose), so you can convert them to paying clients.
The biggest downside to having multiple links or places to send your audience is CONFUSION. You will overwhelm them with choices, and they’ll choose to exit without clicking on anything.
You need to make it easy for someone to click away from your social media into a place where you have more control.
If you only pick one place to send your audience off-platform, let it be to an email list.

A few more email marketing tips:
Use free or low-priced lead magnets to grow your email list.
Set up an automated welcome sequence for new subscribers.
Send regular emails (I typically recommend a minimum of weekly) to keep your audience engaged.
Rotate your email topics between giving value, telling stories, and selling.
Number Three: A Core Offer
Lastly, you need ONE core offer to focus on. (Forget having a big offer suite, especially in the beginning. Start with one.)
Talking about one thing consistently will help to convince your audience it’s the solution they’ve been searching for.
As your business grows, you can have multiple different offers, but even in that case, I would still recommend picking one core offer to push the most in your marketing efforts.
Pro tip: If YOU’RE confused on what to sell, your audience is sure as hell confused on what to buy!
Simple is easier and much more powerful than running an overcomplicated business with a million moving parts.
